Whanganui & Partners, the Economic Development Agency for Whanganui, is looking for an experienced strategic leader focused on Business. Retaining and growing our existing businesses and attracting new businesses and investment to Whanganui will be your priorities.
Our method to achieve successful economic development outcomes is to form partnerships with the community, focusing on growth and prosperity. One aspect of this work is supporting business - from assisting existing businesses to improve productivity, providing businesses with support to grow, supporting entrepreneurs to establish and grow innovative start-up businesses and attracting new businesses that can take advantage of Whanganui's strong business culture as well as our great lifestyle, affordable housing, world class schools, and ultra-fast broadband connection.
To be successful in the role, you will need to have a tertiary qualification in a business-related discipline with significant business development and entrepreneurial experience. Experience in business planning, project management, and strategy implementation would also be highly valued. You will also need a strategic mind-set and an interest in the economic development space. Building a strong network of relationships within Whanganui and beyond is a critical skill for the role and experience in leading or influencing stakeholder networks is desirable.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Whanganui & Partners, this is a rewarding role with high visibility of your output. You will find a broad range of projects that work closely with other Whanganui & Partners Strategic Leads covering our key sectors in Agribusiness, Creative Industries, Capability and Destination Management.
